Gallstones in oxen in Kenya. After removing the gallstones from the calf, they are thoroughly cleansed with cold water to eliminate blood clots, pollutants, and other contaminants. They are then dried for two to three weeks at a temperature of approximately 20 degrees Celsius in a dark, well ventilated area. The stones must be moved on a regular basis to ensure proper drying (dried ox gallstones) and avoid adhering together.
